PAM 1 'Communication'

Communication is the oil of workplace operations. This PAM explores factors affecting how we communicate more effectively at work.

Workplace communication

This PAM takes a tour of workplace communication, both formal and informal types of communication. Some classic management tools are explored and the structure of language is visited, which is explored further in PAM 7 'Interaction' .

The change environment

'PAM 1 Communication' also takes a tour of the change environment. You already know about change; take a moment and think about your achievements.  Change, by its very nature will take people from a known, present state, to an unknown future state.  Operating within and managing the change environment is key to success.

PAM 1 is about laying the foundations.

The mission here is to 'Establish and maintain the team '

Practical Aide Memoir

PAM 2 'Training'

The trainer framework creates more effective and engaged individuals and teams, resulting in better performance.

Teamwork

Analysis

How many need training? In what? To what level? When? And how is the right level to be maintained?  Here, we identify the training need through Training Needs Analysis and Job Analysis to arrive at training interventions utilising a range of methods. A systems approach is adopted in relation to the training function.

Design and Delivery

Once the training intervention is identified, the 'Design of Training' and Delivery phases provide the Lesson Plans (Work Instructions, Training Cards), Training Programmes and Scheduling.

Evaluation and Validation

Training interventions add value to the business.  Formative and Summative Evaluation during training checks learning is taking place. Internal and External Validation checks that what was learned is being applied at the workplace, confirming the return on investment.

TTT and JIT

The cornerstone of workplace training: properly prepared trainers who are better able to transfer the skills and knowledge necessary around the workplace. 'PAM 2 Training' is made up of 'Train the Trainer' and 'Job Instruction Training'.

PAM 2 is about the transfer of skills and knowledge.

The mission here is to 'Establish and maintain the learning environment '

PAM 6 'Projects'

Derived from established projects methodology based on principles, themes, processes and products. An easily accessible guide.

PAM 6 ‘Projects’ is derived from an established, well-known framework and is presented as a series of templates that can be adapted for use at the workplace. The approach offers a structured, flexible, and product-based approach to project management that can be applied across industries and sectors.

The first half of this Practical Aide Memoir places the topic into context. The second half is made up of a series of templates. These templates serve as a framework within which locally produced products should be created. The size of the project will dictate the level of detail contained within each product. With that in mind, the spaces within each of the templates are for user reference notes.
